The Radcliffe U3A monthly meetings 2025

Updated on28th October 2025

Join us on the first Thursday of each month at 2pm at Grange Hall for a friendly and engaging afternoon with fellow u3a members.

Enjoy tea, coffee, and biscuits as you catch up with others, hear updates on group activities, and explore new ways to get involved. Each session features a guest speaker, with presentations lasting just over an hour. We invite speakers who have experience engaging with community groups, and we choose topics that are interesting, informative, and often connected to Radcliffe, Nottinghamshire, and the issues that matter locally.

Wishing you a fulfilling year ahead—your support keeps our u3a thriving. —Christine Hopton

Autumn at Radcliffe u3a

Whether autumn evokes Keats’ “Season of Mists and Mellow Fruitfulness” or Shelley’s “Wild West Wind,” our monthly meetings offer a warm welcome, good company, and engaging talks.

📅 6th November Monthly Meeting – speaker change

This month, we welcome Phil Drabble, whose remarkable journey along the Western Front offers a fresh perspective on remembrance and history. Inspired by Anthony Seldon’s moving account The Path of Peace, in which the historian walks the length of the Western Front, Phil chose a different mode of travel: his Triumph Tiger motorbike.

His route followed the same historic path, weaving through some of Europe’s most evocative landscapes—from the Swiss border through Alsace, Lorraine, Champagne, the Somme and Flanders—culminating at the North Sea in Belgium. Along the way, Phil encountered not only stunning scenery but also the enduring echoes of conflict and sacrifice.

Phil’s talk is a tribute to all who fought and fell on the Western Front, regardless of nationality. He brings a personal touch by focusing on the stories of two men from his native Nottingham, whose fates were sealed in the trenches of World War I.

Join us for this timely and thought-provoking presentation, blending travel, history, and remembrance in a unique and powerful way.
