In early December Radcliffe on Trent U3A held its Christmas Party, traditionally the final event of their U3A year. Once again it proved extremely popular with all tickets selling out well in advance to over 170 of our members who packed into the Grange Hall.
On arrival members were shown to their table and welcomed with a glass of Prosecco, as Christmas music played over the speakers to help get them into the Christmas spirit. The room was looking very festive thanks to the hard work of Committee members in laying out the tables beforehand. We were very surprised and honoured that Santa took time off at this very busy period to come and see us and to circulate around the tables chatting to people!
As guests ate their food, there was a collaborative quiz to test the ‘grey matter’ with a prize for the winning table. The quiz was followed by the main act, Sara Spade, known as the Ukulele Lady (see website https://saraspade.co.uk/). With a mix of tunes that suited all tastes, Sara soon had guests joining in and received rapturous applause for her set.
Finally the party concluded with a raffle which even included the lovely floral table centrepieces amongst the prizes.
Before guests left, Chairman Malcolm McDowell thanked members for attending and thanked all of the volunteers that helped both beforehand in organising the food and drink, as well as those that helped on the day in various roles to make the party such a success.
